Winston Langley secured approval from Leichhardt Council in June 2008 to the redevelopment of the Balmain Tigers site at Rozelle. While the site currently remains undeveloped, Winston Langley obtained planning approval for two buildings of 13 and 8 storeys with a large scale retail and club component at a Floor Space Ratio of 3.9:1 (3 times the former planning controls).
The project was not developed by Winston Langley due to the GFC environment that existed at the time and Winston Langley exited the project following receipt of rezoning approval. The site remains the only example in the Leichhardt Council LGA where the Council has voluntarily increased the planning controls for a site to such a significant extent.
